Book 4 reflection

The main "hero" in the book Hunger Games by  Suzanne Collins, is Katniss Everdeen. There are many kinds of heroes: First there is Anti Hero, who is like a regular hero, then there is Romantic heroes, don't go by its name, it isn't a hero that falls in love, it is a hero who has been rejected by society and has the self-center of his own existence, another hero would be an Epic hero, who is that participates in a quest, Then there is a Tragic hero who makes a mistake and it goes downhill for them from that point, last but not least there is a modern hero who goes through a moral psychological quest.

            So let’s talk About Katniss Everdeen, I would say that she is an Epic Hero but is also a pinch of Tragic Hero. I said this because, in the beginning of the book her father had died in the mine explosion, Katniss and her mother and sister Prim were really depressed and Katniss felt responsible for her mother and sister to split up, and from there they have faced nothing but tragedy, they were having food problems, Katniss had to go hunt for the foods and most of the time they weren't that big they were like rabbits and other small animals. Oh it doesn't end there, her sister’s name (Prim) had been chosen to go to a games where everyone was trying to kill other till one survived, and instead Katniss had volunteered for her.  I also had said that she was an Epic hero, because when Prim had been selected to go into the Hunger Games, Katniss didn’t want her sister to go so she had volunteered to go into the games. This is an example of an epic hero because she first of had volunteered to go into the games, and lastly the games are all about survival, like I said the games is literally like the gladiator but it only ended when everyone was done, it was brutal. In the games she had to practice her archery skills and also get sponsors so that they could help her when she need the help when she is in the arena. Katniss had meet this girl named Rue, who reminded her of Prim. In the journey of survival she did everything she could to protect Rue and herself so they could go home to their families.

Adaptation of I am number 4

I started a new book last week called I am Number 4 by Pittacus Lore, The book in my opinion was the best book I have ever read. So my job to day is to write some challenges the filmmaker might have ran into while adapting the book into a movie.

Before we start, I would like to give a brief background info of the book, (don’t worry no spoilers in it). “In the beginning there were nine of us” ( I put in a quote cause I thought it would be cool) so there were nine kids from a different plant that had come to our planet (AKA: “EARTH”) to hide from a hideous creature called “Mogadarian”, the Mogadarian are not creatures that like to mingle, they are the kind of creature that like to destroy other planets, the only way to stop them is by getting the 9 kids together, when the time is right and destroy the Mogadarians. 3/9 kids have died from the Mogadrian and next is John Smith’s turn, who is number 4. The book is basically about John Smith and his mentor hiding from the Mongadarians, along the way he meets important Character that will help him in his in the future. Well that is it for a “background info”, so let’s start the project.

I am Number four has already been adapted into a movie, if you haven’t noticed, but obviously like a good movie there must have been some difficulties in making the movie and here they are. In the book the intro was more detailed and had more events happening while in the movie they had to get rid of certain side storylines and shortened. 

What do I think?

A Million Little Pieces a famous book by James Frey, came on the Oprah's Book Club list, so it must be really good, and when you look at its genre it turns out to be a narrative. OK so now you must be saying that this guy must write about a book of on of his precious or unforgettable moment. You do a little bit of a research on the book and you go to this one site and it tells you that James Frey had lied in about the events in his life. You stop for a minute and think if he lied then this book is no that good, and you decide not to buy or borrow the book.

If you are one of those people that do what what the person above just did the I must say please stop reading books, I know its harsh but seriously why would you get rid of a book just because it doesn't fit its genre, doesn't mean that it is a bad book. If you want a pure Narrative then just go read a biography on the person. Books is like a movie, it has three purpose, to entertain, persuade, and inform, and just because the book is a narrative doesn't mean that the book will be completely the truth, it's like your being racist angainst BOOKS.

3 reasons why the book Gone Girl is worth Reading.

What I am about to tell you all is going to be 99.99% fact. No opinions. And I am sure that many people that have already read Gone Girl are going to agree for whatever I am going to say. 

1.       Because it's great.

The book has an abundant amount of suspense and tension as you go further into the book. The book has so many powerful dialogs an example would be,

“Men actually think this girl exists. Maybe they’re fooled because so many women are willing to pretend to be this girl. For a long time Cool Girl offended me. I used to see men – friends, coworkers, and strangers – giddy over these awful pretender women, and I’d want to sit these men down and calmly say…” I’ll give you a second for you to comprehend the quote….ok so.. 2.       Because it's instructional.

Gone Girl is not Aesop, but there are valuable lessons to be gleaned from its pages. Our favorites: "Thinking yourself good is the easiest way to do badly," "An easy lie can be more harmful than an unpleasant truth," "Beware of loving the idea of someone," and, as the denouement proves, "In marriage, one must compromise."

3.       Because you'll need the ending fresh in your mind.

The saga of the Gone Girl ending has undergone more revisions than Blade Runner. First it was completely rewritten "from scratch," then those reports were "greatly exaggerated," then "the bone structure and the muscles" were changed but not "the marrow," and then it was basically the same. Don't you want to be able to examine the minutiae of the changes yourself?
